Nokia and Windows

Filed under: Computers, Gadgets, Services — admin @ 23:07

I’m getting f.ked with Windows.
I have Nokia E65 phone and it’s great with all features. Like WLAN (WiFi), company Exchange email, VoIP and many other great S60 v.3 applications. Nokia just released new firmware for my mobile phone so I decided to install it. But… update is only for Windows. Okay… I can install Vista trial for 30 days and Nokia PC Suite with phone update software.
I downloaded programs and installed them. PC Suite is needed so I can backup all data from phone. Just after program installation I can select USB cable connection and my phone is being recognized. I can take backup what’s very important. Then I try to open PC Suite again but it won’t start. Why?!?! From system tray it does nothing. Only sync application starts but I don’t need that (btw, why there are so many system-tray applications for Nokia???). When I try to start Nokia PC Suite from desktop icon, it just flashes mouse icon to be busy and then all desktop icons are being refreshed. And Nokia PC Suite does not start. Trying to unplug cable and connect again. It won’t help. Nokia FAQ tells that I need to uninstall all Nokia applications and install latest versions again. But I just did that!
I started firmware update program and it seems to be okay. But I need to get PC Suite work. I need to check all installed applications so I can install them back after firmware update.
Perhaps I’ll try to visit Nokia Flagship store and ask them to help me. And I can leave some complaints. I think Nokia is telling that my Windows is the problem. And Microsoft tells that problem is on Nokia software. So why the hell Nokia does not do Linux version only and leave Windows with their problems alone? I’d prefer to use Linux versions.
Good that Nokia still supports Linux with N800 “internet tablet”.
